How warm are Alpaca doonas?

Our standard adult Alpaca doona is equal to 3.5 lambs wool blankets, without as much weight.

Are Alpaca doonas heavy?

No, for example a queen size Alpaca doona ( 2100mm x2100mm ) weighs 2500 gms which is 567 grams per square metre.

How do I care for an Alpaca doonas?

The best way to care for your Alpaca doona is with fresh air & sunshine, if required dry clean only. Always use a doona cover & never hand wash, as this can felt the alpaca fibre causing it to loose its thermal properties & distort the shape of the doona.

How are you doonas made?

After shearing we send our alpaca wool to be cleaned & scoured. Our manufacturer then makes the fibre into a batt the same size as the doona. It is sewn into a double japara casing bound with a cotton binding and channel sewn the length of the doona to hold the fibre in position. This process is all carried out in Australia & you can be assured you are receiving an Australian made product.

What is a his & hers Alpaca doona?

Our standard his & hers alpaca doona is a combination of one side of the doona having a thermal rating equivalent to 3.5 blankets and the other side has the equivalent to 5 blankets; the doona is designed for those couples where one person has a greater need for warmth than the other, or for a single person with different seasonal needs. Doonas are made as a full batt of fibre, stitched securely in position in the japara cotton cover and bound with a cotton sateen binding.
Doonas can be made to order with a thermal rating combination between 2 and 5 blanket equivalent. Email for special orders- prices may vary. Please be aware that the Super King size his & hers doona has a slightly different design due to weight & size to make sure balance is correct when placed on the bed.

Can you make to order?

Yes, we frequently make to order. We have made Alpaca doonas in different sizes & weights and can provide you with a range from 2 to 5 thermal blanket equivalents. Our his & hers range has been most successful in this way.
Variations of size is also available, but please remember that while we can make a different shaped doona you must be able to find a doona cover for you specialty doona. Please contact us for an idea of manufacturing time & cost for special orders.

Will you combine Shipping for multiple item orders?

Yes, the shipping cost is calculated on weight & distance as per Australia Post. Shipping costs are calculated and shown in the shopping cart.
